Premium wine Grown Barossa Valley
South Australia is spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing a good drop.
Â
There’s the Riverland, the Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale, the Limestone Coast, Clare, and of course, Barossa Valley. We can’t talk about wine without talking about the Barossa.
Â
Barossa Valley: One of Australia’s oldest wine regions
Â
Less than 60km from Adelaide’s city, the Barossa Valley has long been not only one of our treasures, but Australia’s. Penfolds, Wolf Blass, Yalumba, and Seppeltsfield are some of the regions most notable wineries – with vines as old as 150 years. No wonder premium wine grown Barossa Valley
Â
When most people think of the Barossa, Shiraz is the grape variety that most often comes to mind. But the Barossa Valley is also strong in its Riesling, Semillion, Chardonnay, Grenache, Mourvedre, and Cabarnet Sauvignon. Although famous for its red, the region does produce a large amount of white wine.
Â
Riesling is big for the region, due to its higher elevations and cooler climates in the ranges. There’s a pink-skinned clone that makes Barossa’s Semillion unique. It’s a fully bodied blend with low acidity. And the Chardonnay, which is oaked instead of produced with stainless steel, is a full body creamy wine.
